I love what I do – and every day I am grateful that I get to do it. One of the best parts of being a business coach is the people I work with. I have some truly awesome clients who are open to learning new things and doing what it takes to get their business to the next level. At each session with these business coaching clients, I do my best to get to the nub of what their issues are, to what is holding them back or what they can do to increase their profitability. But at each session, without fail, I learn a little something from my clients too.
From engineering to interior design, from insurance to banking, my clients are totally diverse. So are their mind-sets, their life experiences and their strengths and problem-solving skills. So it’s no wonder that I learn from those I coach. I constantly improve and sharpen my skills from my experience with my clients. Every week, I meet different people, in different industries, coping with similar issues in different ways – all providing me with a wider range of knowledge that I can hopefully use to help others.
Chris Price from Ark Advance is one of those clients. I’ve learnt a lot about web optimisation and online marketing from Chris and his team. If you haven’t already, sign up to his newsletter – his articles on how to do better with your website and online marketing strategy are very helpful (and written in a way that non techies can understand!). I particularly enjoyed an article from his latest newsletter, where he shared how a mountain biking instructor completely changed his bike-riding experience at Rotorua’s Redwood Forest recently – in much the same way that an online marketing coach (or business coach, ahem) can completely change your business experience… for the better.
Explaining to potential customers why you can be of use to them and their business isn’t always easy. But once you figure out what value you can offer and what a change you can make in positively impacting on their experience, it’s not such a hard sell at all. Using a business consultant or business coach can be like mountain biking – having an expert along for the ride can suddenly make those bumps in the road fun, giving you the air you need to make a real impact with your next move.
