Congratulations to Les Mills who won at the recent Best Awards! (Great name eh!) The SmartStep (by Christchurch design consultancy, 4ormfunction) impressed judges because it reinvented the standard gym step exercise equipment by stopping slippage with a multi-directional top surface designed to improve grip, having a deck that locks into position and being a device that stacks neatly in storage.
The judges said: “The International quality of the SmartStep design is further evidence of Les Mill’s commitment to great design and a determination to not just compete against global brands but to lead the market with a strong design language integrated with ergonomic and usability improvements that revolutionize the total exercise experience.”
Another Les Mills product (also designed by 4ormfunction) also won accolades earlier this year. The Smartbar, a system which makes it quicker and easier to change bar weights in a gym, took out the international Red Dot Design Award for Best Product Design of the Year in May. Well done, team! Keep on innovating!
