Like every good business, a person needs to continue to learn and evolve to be the best they can be. I’m fortunate enough to work with some amazing businesses with some top people so I’m constantly learning new things – about industries and business and even myself. The thing that’s stood out for me this month has been how much better my clients who consistently focus on their “sales funnel” (where sales are coming from in the future) are doing compared to my clients who are not able to get to that future-focused state because they’re busy fighting fires day to day. If all you do is fight fires, then something needs to change because fighting fires instead of focusing on future sales is a recipe for disaster (or non-success at the least). A question to those of you who seem to continually fight fires: Why is your business like this? (Feel free to chat to me about this.) And a question to those of you who have got past the fighting fires stage: What is stopping you converting more future sales? We all have to learn how to not let the small things in business (and life!) affect us and take up a lot of our time to the point where we don’t focus on the bigger-picture things that will really help our success. This isn’t rocket science, but how do you personally rate yourself out of 10 as far as being able to get beyond the daily fighting fires to focus on more important stuff? Anything less than 7 out of 10 and you have a problem.
